One of my favorite movies of all time is Good Will Hunting and it never really occured to me that the title might be intrepreted both ways until I saw the movie.
Basically, the movie is about a high school drop out mathematics genious, played by Matt Damon, trying to make the best decisions for his life with the help of a shrink played by Robin Williams.
Since I sometimes write about mathematics and life, game theory, strategic decision making and etc. I think it would be appropriate to share this 3 min. footage from the movie which could even be used in game theory, optimization and ( you name it ) classes at universities.
You think mathematics and life are not organically connected? Well, think twice!.. Here is a quote from me:
“Life is like a multivariable mathematical function; if you try to optimize it wrt one variable you’ll end up with a local max/min which is a safe approach as you won’t be too happy or sad at the end of the day and if you try to optimize it wrt all variables you’ll end up with a global max/min which might make you or break you… “
Well, after all “peace in mind” is nothing but finding the Nash Equilibrium in this game, called life!..
